RACES' RULES
1 Affiliation and insurance
Organizers had taken out an insurance policy in civil liability.
Every runner has to enter for the race with a registration on the website and a medical certificate (see below), and has to verify that he/she’s well insured for researches and sanitary evacuation.
2 Registration
Registration must be done by the website www.6666occitane.fr

The races the “Grand Raid Occitan” and the “6666 Occitane” are opened to runners in category Espoir, Seniors and Veterans, feminines and masculines.
The registration files include :
- ♦ the enrolment and the fees’ payment on line by the website, that means rules’ acceptance.
- ♦ a medical certificate of no contra indication for practising long distance runs in mountains and in competition, to load on the website and to send by e-mail or by post to 6666 Occitane Association, 10, rue de Favier, F- 34 320 VAILHAN, FRANCE, before May 2013, the 15th.
It is recommended to have already finished another ultrarace to join, because a good preparation is necessary (to see chapter " preparation and management " on the site). The participants must in particular be perfectly aware of the length and the specificity of the event : distances, partially of night (1 or 2 nights), heat, semi-autonomy, technicality.
The “Grand Raid Occitan” and the “6666 Occitane” are qualifying races for UTMB®, CCC® and TDS™ : 1 point for each part of the 2 relays and 4 for solos who finish. (www.ultratrailmb.com)
The total amount for solo runners of the “Grand Raid Occitan” is about €110.
The total amount for solo runners of the”6666 Occitane” is about €80 ; €42 for each runner of relay of 2 ; €33 for each runner of relay of 3.
Runners can subscribe to a cancellation insurance (€10), the day of their registration (and only at that moment).
In case of withdrawal caused by personal reasons, the reimbursement of their registration fees will be then about 100% until the start day, with a written proof (excepting the €10,00 of the insurance we conserve).
Without subscription to cancellation insurance, and in case of withdrawal caused by personal reasons, the reimbursement will be about 60% till January 2013, the 31st , about 50% till March 2013, the 31st , and about 40% till April 2013, the 30th . After that date, no reimbursement will be owed.
3 Participation
The “Grand Raid Occitan” and the “6666 Occitane” courses are in semi self-sufficiency.
6 or 7 supply points and some points with water are positioned on the route.
Each runner engaged on the long distance races the “Grand Raid Occitan” or the “6666 Occitane” needs to respect these points :
♦ Each runner carries his/her own obligatory equipment, which should be controlled at random during the course. The runner has to sign an engagement on honour to keep with himself/herself his/her obligatory equipment through the entire race.
- - a water-bottle belt or a camel-back with a 2 liters water reserve,
- a survival blanket (210x140 cm minimum),
- an energizing reserve,
- two headlamps with spare set batteries,
- a waterproof jacket,
- a buff, or a headscarff, or a peaked cap,
- a whistle,
- a cup for supply point,
- an adhesive strip (80x3 cm minimum) to stretch oneself,
- a mobile.
♦ Advised material : sticks, change of clothing, compass, knife, sun cream, small first-aid kit …
♦Numbers : Supplied by organization, they must be worn during the course, well visible on the chest, the stomach or front of thigh. Phone number of the main check point and of emergency services (112 for zone “emergency only”) will be marked on.
A different colour and different numbers will allow the runners to distinguish their participation at the “Grand Raid Occitan” in orange from 1000 to 1500, or at the “6666 Occitane” in white : solo runners from 1 to 999, relay of 2’ runners from 2.000 to 2.200, relay of 3’ runners from 3.000 to 3.200.
4 Personal assistance and pacers
♦ Personal assistance by the family is authorized only at the supply points. If a runner is surprised to receive external assistance, he/she would be disqualified.
♦ Pacers
> Role and limits of Pacer :
His / her leading part is to help morally the runner. His / her maybe interesting reassuring presence, in particular at night. His / her lucidity can avoid the distractions and warn traps of the ground. He / she can play assistant's role inside the zones of provisioning.
On no account he can carry equipment, food or drinks for the runner except these zones, what would pull the disqualification of the runner. It is forbidden to him / her) to pull or to push the runner. He / she reaches the provisionings. No transport or shuttle set up by the organization will assure the coverage of the pacer.
>Recording of Pacer :
The runner of the Grand Raid Occitan can join at first, and register his pacer(s) later, or make everything at the same time. He/she will necessarily have to note on his/her registration form the number of pacers that he/she wishes, to add them to the "basket", then to update his index form of personal information by indicating name and first name of his pacer(s) in the reserved field, and their telephone and e-mail number in the field " customer Remark ". The pacer will be necessarily of 16 and more years old, and will have to supply a medical certificate of not contraindication in the practice of the running with competition, and a parental consent for the minors. He/she will be given a bib carrying the number of the runner and that of one or several run sections. The amount of the registration will be 9€ by section.

- The access to the provisionings of the beginning and of the end of section,
- The care if need.
> Do not give access :
- In the finishing line,
- In the meal according to running (race) (10€ within the limits of the available places),
- In the present finisher,
- In the shuttle.
5 Race bibs’ handing
The race bibs are to be taken :
- · For the “Grand Raid Occitan” :
- - in ROQUEBRUN, on May, Friday 31st, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, at Esplanade Farret ;
- At Salagou Lake, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, by reservation (contact).
- · For the “6666 Occitane” :
- - in ROQUEBRUN, on May, Friday 31st from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm ;
- In VAILHAN, on May, Friday 31st from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, by reservation (contact).
Runners have to specify where they want to take their number at the latest 15 days before the race. No change could be accepted after that.
A 10-euro note (cash only) for the caution of the electronic chip will be asked. This sum will be returned at the end of the race.
Before the races, the organizers inform the runners of :
- Departure hour,
- The time limit of passage at some check points : LAMALOU, MONS, OLARGUES and VIEUSSAN,
- The supply and check points location,
- Delicate points’ situation
- Weather forecast.
6 Runners’ bags
2 runner bags (30 liters) will be provided to each participant with his/her number with a label carrying their number. The one for the post of COLOMBIÈRES ON ORB (C blue on the label), the second for the arrival (R red on the label). It is recommended not to put down valuables there. The organization cannot be held responsible in case of degradation, of loss or of theft.
They allow the participants to find clean personal belongings, food … The runners have to deposit them to the driver of the shuttle, before the departure. Careful : sticks are not allowed in theses bags.
The bag for Colombières is transported by organization. When reaching this CP, each runner reclaims his/her bag. When he/she leaves again, he/she deposits the bag to the volunteer. The bag is then taken to Roquebrun, with the other one. The bags are handed back either to the competitor or to his/her family, uniquely on presentation of his/her bib, until 3:00 pm on Sunday 3rd.
7 Breafing before the race
Just before the start, a last fast briefing will be the occasion to repeat to competitors :
- safety instructions,
- every last minute information about weather conditions, possible route modifications ...
8 Start
The start will be given :
- For the “Grand Raid Occitan” from Salagou Lake at 6:00 pm on May, Friday 31st.
- For the “6666 Occitane”, at the VAILHAN town hall place, at 00:00 on June, Saturday 1st (night between Friday and Saturday).
Competitors have to be on the start line 15’ before the start.
The finish line of the 2 races is in ROQUEBRUN.
9 Maximal time of race
- · 32 hours for the “6666 Occitane”
- · 38 hours for the “Grand Raid Occitan”.
Last arrivals at 8:00 am on June, Sunday 3rd.
10 Time barriers
4 supply points are also time barriers :
- LAMALOU LES BAINS, 09:00 am,
- MONS LA TRIVALLE, 5:45 pm ,
- OLARGUES, 11:45 pm,
- VIEUSSAN, 3:30 am on sunday.
These barriers are planned to allow each runner to have time to rest and eat at the supply points, and correspond on leaving the supply point.
If one competitor is stopped by organization at one of these barriers, he/she has to stop the course, and will be rapatried back to ROQUEBRUN only. He/she’ll always have access to cares and to after ace meal with the presentation of his/her bib
The organization reserve the rights to alter hour barriers or to stop the race in case of very bad weather or other danger.
11 Disqualification grounds
- No assistance to a person in danger. Competitors must help and give mutual assistance to other ones, and alert first aid points.
- Savage rubbish elimination. Competitors have to respect environment and use waste baskets on supply points. Going through Natural Regional Park of Haut Languedoc (Caroux) and through Natura 2000 zones impose runners on respect few rules : strict respect of signposts, no spit and no urinate accross the peat bog. An entrance and exit signpost will sign out these short areas and repeat these instructions.
- No respect of signposts : every shortcut of the route is forbidden, for ecological, security and fair play reasons.
- No respect of volunteers, inhabitants, walkers, doctors, flora and fauna,
- External assistance out of authorized supply points.
- Absence of compulsory equipment or refusal to submit to a control of the aforementioned equipment.
- Refusal to submit to a control or to a decision taken by the direction of race, a marshal, a leader of post, a doctor or a first-aid worker.
12 Withdrawal
Except for injury, runners have to reach a rescue point or a supply point to give up the race. They have to inform the responsible of the post, who will invalidate the number. Nevertheless, the participants will conserve their bib to the after race meal, cares ...
They will be repatriated to ROQUEBRUN by shuttle.
13 Complaints
Race jury is alone to judge disputes. The jury is made of the race director, association members, the safety responsible, the leader of the concerned post and a runners’ representant.
14 Modifications of the route or of the time barriers ; cancellation of the race
In the case of weather conditions which can represent a danger for runners’ and volunteers’ safety ( important rainfalls or snowfalls, thick fog, risk of storm, forest fire ...), the organization reserves the right, without warning, to change the route (second security path), the hour barriers, the supply posts .
Departure must be put off 3 hours maximum ; it will be cancelled if weather conditions don’t get better.
If departure is gived and if the race has to be stopped, organization implements everything to repatriate the runners to ROQUEBRUN. No reimbursement will be allowed by organization.
15 What include the enrolment fees :
The start gift, supplies, the transfer to arrival in case of giving up, arrival gift for individual runners and each relay, after race meal, showers, care.
What don’t include the enrolment fees :
The shuttle between ROQUEBRUN and Salagou Lake or VAILHAN (€7), cancellation insurance (€10).
Companions could buy tickets for after race meal on the spot, at the price of €10, in the limit of available seats.
For organization reasons, we ask you to reservate shuttle at the registration and untill 2 weeks before the start.
16 Rankings and rewards
All finishers are classified and receive a present.
For each race in solo, a general classification female and male and a classification for each category female and male are established.
Are rewarded by a trophy and a prize : the first 10 men and the first 5 women of the “6666 Occitane” ; the first 5 men and the first 3 women of the “Grand Raid Occitan” ; the first 3 of each category (Espoir, Senior, Veteran 1,2, 3, 4) without concurrent drawing.
The first man and the first woman of 6666 Occitane win their journey in Martinique for Transmartinique (inscription in one of the offered races, plane ticket for a person and an accommodation for a week included). A drawing lots among the finishers of 6666 Occitan solo and the Grand Raid Occitan will allow one person to go also to Martinique (inscription and plane ticket offered).
The first man and the first woman of the Grand Raid Occitan win their journey in May, 2013 in Madagascar for the UTOP (registration, plane ticket and accommodation of a week for a person).
2 places for the Trail du Ventoux (F-84) will be drawn lots among the finishers solos.
1 week of training course to the Garmin Festival de l' Endurance in the Saisies (F-73) will also be drawn lots among the finishers solos.
A team challenge is organized on the Grand Raid Occitan and 6666 Occitane, for the solo runners only (see rule of the challenge 2013).
For relays competitors, are rewarded by a trophy and a prize the first 3 teams at general classification, the first female team and the first mixed team.
The 1st relay of 2 will receive the inscription to the Trail de Noël organized by the Trail Club d' Ollioules (F-83).
No prize money.
17 Photo copyrights and race rules’ acceptance
By his/her enrolment by the website, the runner commits himself/herself to respect race rules in the whole and relinquishes his/her claim to photographic copyright. He/she won’t ask for any financial compensation for the use by organization or his partners of his/her image before, during and after the events.
18 Anti-doping control
All the competitors can be subjected to an anti-doping control, before the departure or in the arrrivée.
